There are a number of locations that hold aggregated data for practices. This means that you can see how the practice compares to other locations. This does not mean that individuals health records are available.
QOF
The Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) is a voluntary annual reward and incentive programme for all GP practices in England, detailing practice achievement results. It is not about performance management but resourcing and rewarding good practice.
The QOF gives an indication of the overall achievement of a practice through a points system. Practices aim to deliver high quality care across a range of areas for which they score points. The final payment is adjusted to take account of surgery workload, local demographics and the prevalence of chronic conditions in the practice’s local area.
National General Practice Profiles
These profiles are designed to support GPs, primary care networks (PCNs), clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and local authorities to ensure that they are providing and commissioning effective and appropriate healthcare services for their local population.
In addition to viewing individual practice profiles, you can view summary profiles for PCNs, CCGs and other higher geographies. Each practice can be compared with the CCG or PCN and England.
Using a variety of graphical displays such as spine charts and population pyramids, the tool presents a range of practice-level indicators drawn from the latest available data, including:
- Local demography
- Quality and Outcomes Framework domains
- Cancer Services
- Maternal and Child health
- Antibiotic prescribing
- Patient satisfaction
The profiles do not provide an exhaustive list of primary care indicators, but they do allow a consistent approach to comparing and benchmarking across England.
Friends and Family Test
The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. Listening to the views of patients and staff helps identify what is working well, what can be improved and how.
The FFT asks people if they would recommend the services they have used and offers a range of responses.
GP Patient Survey
The GP Patient Survey is an independent survey run by Ipsos MORI on behalf of NHS England.
The results show how people feel about their GP practice.
