BSc(Hons) MBBS MRCGP DFSRH DRCOG

Bio:

I qualified in 1990 from St George’s Hospital Medical School in London and after working at St. Helier Hospital (General Surgery and Orthopaedics) and Frimley Park Hospital (General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine) returned to Birmingham to undertake my training in General Practice. This involved working at Birmingham General Hospital (Accident and Emergency Medicine and Liaison Psychiatry), Birmingham Women’s Hospital (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Neuropsychiatry), and Birmingham Children’s Hospital (General Paediatrics and Paediatric Surgery) and finally in General Practice at Greenbank Surgery in Hall Green. As a fully qualified GP, I initially worked as Assistant Honorary University Physician at Aston University for 3 years before joining Sarehole Surgery in Hall Green. Our surgery then merged with 4 other local surgeries in 2003 to form Hall Green Health.
Whilst working as a GP, I was also appointed as a Clinical Assistant in Dermatology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital from 1995 to 2005. I have been Executive Partner at Hall Green Health (2009 to 2013) and continue to be active in improving the services we are able to offer our patients. I have been a GP trainer since 2004 and so far, 4 of the doctors I mentored in their training have chosen to join us at Hall Green Health. I really enjoy developing the skills of the next generation of GPs.
Being part of such a large, forward thinking practice, gives me the opportunity and support to continue to develop my own skills as a GP and enhance the care I am able to offer our patients. In addition to the usual services provided by a GP, I also offer cryotherapy, minor surgery, coil and implant fitting and have a particular interest in dermatology, sexual health and women’s health issues.
